Biography

As a Master Sommelier, Ron Edwards has to be considered one of the elite few in a group of wine and service professionals throughout the world. Today, there are only 176 Master Sommeliers in the world and 101 in the United States with this internationally recognized credential. Edward’s affinity for wine, food, service and hospitality surpasses the majority of wine professionals and he also possesses extensive knowledge of spirits and beer for any situation.

Edwards achieved the honor of Master Sommelier in 2005 and after many years in the restaurant industry, has become a consultant to all levels of the wine and hospitality trade. His enthusiasm for the subject, abundant energy and vast experience has inspired businesses throughout the country ranging from wine importers to fine restaurants and hotels. Trusted by the corporate world to entertain and impress key clients, Edwards is well-known for his expertise in coordinating wine pairings for special events. His passion and focus is to meet the consumer “where they are” and has taught seminars to thousands of everyday wine drinkers.  Consumers also find his entertaining insight on Wine Talk Radio, a weekly AM talk radio program.  In addition to all this, he considers it a great privilege to train the next generation of professional sommeliers through the courses of the Court of Master Sommeliers.

His monthly wine club offers carefully selected wines that take the risk out of buying an unknown wine and his educational angst, along with two other partners resulted in the creation of The Grapevine School of Wine, a unique educational experience for the public.

Exceptional cuisine has always been a focus of his life work and afforded him the opportunity to work alongside culinary talents such as Brian Polcyn, Stuart Brioza (named one of America’s Best Young Chefs by Food and Wine magazine), Harlan “Pete” Peterson (James Beard Award Nominee) and Jeremy Kittelson (Formerly of Blackbird in Chicago).

Ron lives with his wife and four daughters in the beautiful lakeside town of Charlevoix.
